TechnoMotive Datalogger
Compatibility with 3000GT/Stealth Cars
by Jeff Lucius
The TechnoMotive Datalogger is a diagnostic and monitoring tool that allows you see the internal workings of the engine control unit (ECU). It consists of a cable that connects the car's diagnostic port to a portable computer, and DOS or Windows 95/NT software. The TMO datalogger is available for 1991-1995 DSM cars and 1991 through 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth cars (with OBDI-style ECU connector and diagnostic port).
The following lists show the functions that are compatible and those that are incompatible with the 1991 to 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT and Dodge Stealth cars.
Compatible:
- Actuator tests
- Individual injector disable
- Solenoid on/off (fuel pressure, boost, EGR, purge)
- Fuel pump relay
- Air flow (Hz)
- Air temperature (ºF or V)
- Barometer (bar or V)
- Battery (V)
- Coolant temperaure (ºF or V)
- ECU info (ID, engine type, error codes)
- Engine speed (RPM)
- Fuel trim low (%)
- Fuel trim middle (%)
- Fuel trim high (%)
- Injector pulse width (milliseconds)
- ISC steps (counts)
- Knock sum (counts)
- Oxy feedback trim (%)
- Oxygen sensor (V)
- Throttle position (% or V)
- Timing advance (degrees) - but not absolute values
Incompatible:
- Accel enrichment (%) - irrelevant numbers
- Air volume - too-few bits reported problem, includes DSM
- A/C clutch relay on/off - always off (I think)
- A/C switch on/off - always on
- EGR temperature - no reading (however, latest software version allows any 0-5 V input and allows scaling; used to log boost)
- ECU version - no information
- Idle switch on/off - always off
- Park/neutral switch on/off (auto transmissions only) - always off
- Power steering switch on/off - always off (I think)
- TDC sensor - fundamental sampling problem, includes DSM; shows high for 3S
