Buzzer Removal in the
Mitsubishi 3000GT and Dodge Stealth

by Jeff Lucius

Removal

1. Remove radio. Pry off the plastic garnish that surrounds the radio and CD player. I used a homemade trim tool but a 1/4" slotted screwdriver or similar tool will work. This garnish snaps in near the corners. Be careful to not scratch the radio or garnish. Remove the 4 brass Phillips screws that hold the radio in. This arrangement may be different for other models of radio. There should be enough cable to set the radio aside. If not, disconnect the cables. Note that for 1991-1993 models, the radio is grounded through its mounting brackets. Power is removed from the radio when the radio and its bracket no longer touches the floor console bracket. The clock and radio presets will be reset. 1994+ models ground through the wiring harness.

2. Disconnect D-33. Press down on the release lever and separate the two pieces of the connector. The key alarm buzzer is part number MB649187 (buzzer, electric) and is the same for all years.

3. Install radio. Reverse your removal steps for the radio. For the radio model shown the bracket is supported toward the middle rear by two posts in the floor console bracket.
